Steve Patino & Javier Laval : The Android Hommes

If you haven’t heard of Steve Patino (the one wearing the shades) or Javier Laval (sporting the snapback), it’s alright, because now’s your chance. Patino made his debut into the streetwear fashion scene at a young age in Queens, New York during the 90’s when he worked closely with Gawsie, one of the industries’ first premium t-shirt labels popular with Kanye West & Nas. Moreover, he’s also headed his own design and consulting firm, 20/20, worked as the first Global Directors of Special Projects & Director of Sales for DC shoes, and pretty much brought back the Members Only jackets (no really, Patino convinced the brand’s license holder to allow him to revamp the label’s image, modernizing the once 80’s wardrobe essential).

Javier Laval, a Bay Area native, began his career in fashion as brand architect for Nike, Apple, and Boost Mobile. Like Patino, Laval, too, ran his own consulting business under the name “JL Events”. Consulting jobs were far and few when the recession hit so Laval packed his bags with shoe design samples and headed to Hong Kong, Japan, and mainland China. There he convinced someone to look at his samples and Android Homme was born.

Together, Laval and Patino run Android Homme. Patino as President and Executive Creative Partner and Laval as founder and Creative Director. Last week’s event was a watershed moment for the footwear label as this is the first flagship Android Homme store in Los Angeles. If you want to take a look for yourself and perhaps cop a pair of the shoes that celebs. like Usher, will.i.am, and Ludacris have already gotten their hands on visit IX II II for yourself. The store is located on 922 S. Olive St., Los Angeles, CA. To see some of the designs visit Android Homme
